Although the Campus Card is durable, a little prevention could significantly reduce the probability of requiring a new card (a replacement card will cost $10) and here are some suggestions:

• Do not tamper with the picture, information, smart chip and magnetic stripe on the card.
• Keep your Campus Card away from magnetic fields.
• Keep the card away from excessive heat.
• Do not punch holes in your Campus Card.
• Do not scratch the card - if any information is illegible, the card will not be accepted.
• Do not put the card through the washing machine.
• Do not use the card as a windshield scraper.
• Do not lend your Campus Card to others.
• Above all, take care not to lose your card, as the encoded information is yours alone. Any cash balance will be lost with the card.
