Campus Card Terms and Conditions

With your first use of the Campus Card and by initiating deposits and transactions on your card account, you have agreed to the terms and conditions governing the use of the UPEI Campus Card, as set forth in this disclosure.

1. Use and Ownership

The Campus Card is issued to you as part of the items to which you are entitled as a member of the University community, under the following terms and conditions of use. Please read all terms, as these constitute legal obligations between you and the University.

Although the card is the property of the University of Prince Edward Island, it is entrusted to you for your use while enrolled/employed at the University. Your are not required to get a new Campus Card each year. No account should be accessed by anyone other than the cardholder. Your Campus Card is non-transferable and only the person pictured on the card is entitled to use the card and spend money from an account. Unauthorized use, alteration or duplication for fraudulent use warrants confiscation and/or disciplinary action. The University is not responsible for any funds on the card.

University departments/personnel may not ask to retain your Campus Card as collateral for goods or services. Report any such occurrence to the ID Centre at the Young Sports Centre.

2. Lost or Stolen Cards

The cardholder is responsible for maintaining a valid Campus Card, which is in proper working condition. A replacement fee of $10 will be charged for lost, stolen, misplaced or abused cards. Reactivation of a debit function will be allowed only after the replacement fee is paid in full. For defective or heavy wear, cards will be replaced at no charge when turning in your current Campus Card.

If your Campus Card is lost or stolen, you must notify UPEI Campus Security in writing and in person in order to permit its cancellation.

3. Usage

The University of Prince Edward Island is not responsible for the refusal to accept or honour your Campus Card account by any of the participating establishments under, but not limited to, the following circumstances:

* There are insufficient funds in your account at the time the purchase is requested.

* Your account has been temporarily or permanently suspended due to violation(s) of this agreement.

* Your Campus Card has been reported as lost.

* Failure of equipment.

4. Error Resolution Procedure

If you feel a charge has been transacted on your account which you did not authorize, you must notify the corresponding Department (for example, if there is a question regarding meal plans, contact Residence, Food and Conference Services) as soon as the non-authorized transaction is discovered. Include information on the date and amount of the transaction, as well as any other information you feel is necessary to help the staff investigate the claim.

5. Digital Photograph

Your digital photograph will be printed on the face of your Campus Card and will be stored in our database. A new picture may be taken only if there has been a significant change in one’s appearance. Unless otherwise authorized by the student, the photo used for the card is also used for photographic class lists and may be requested by faculty (for details see

6. Changes to Terms

Future changes in terms and conditions regulating the use of this card will apply to all cards in circulation and use at that time and will supersede the terms and conditions in effect at the time the card was acquired. The University reserves the right to change any of the aforementioned policies without notice.

7. Privacy Policy

Your account and personal information will be kept strictly confidential. Outside parties will not be privileged to information about you, your account, or the purchases you make without your express consent unless such disclosure is in compliance with a court order or government legislation.
